Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 to 3 tablespoons finely chopped dill pickles or pickle relish
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon minced onion or shallot
  • 1 to 2 teaspoons chopped capers (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon chopped fresh dill or parsley (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • A tiny pinch of sugar (optional)

Instructions

  1. Start with the mayo. Add about 1 cup mayonnaise to a small bowl.
  2. Add the pickles. Stir in 2 to 3 tablespoons finely chopped dill pickles.
  3. Brighten it up. Add 1 tablespoon lemon juice and 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard if using.
  4. Add the flavor boosters. Mix in 1 tablespoon minced onion or shallot and the chopped capers and dill if desired.
  5. Season and chill. Add a pinch of salt and black pepper, stir well, cover, and chill for at least 20 to 30 minutes before serving.

Notes

Use a mayonnaise you enjoy for the best flavor. Let it rest in the fridge for better flavor blending.
