Description

A warm and cozy dessert that provides the delicious flavors of apple pie without the sugar overload. This healthy crisp is high in protein and easy to make.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 5 to 6 medium apples (Honeycrisp, Fuji, or Granny Smith)
  • 1 cup gluten-free oats
  • 1/2 cup almond flour
  • 1 scoop vanilla protein powder
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • A pinch of salt
  • 1/4 cup nut butter or coconut oil
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup or honey
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Heat your oven to 350°F and lightly grease an 8×8 baking dish.
  2. Prep the apples by slicing them into thin wedges, then toss with lemon juice, cinnamon, and a drizzle of maple syrup.
  3. Make the crumble topping by mixing oats, almond flour, protein powder, cinnamon, and salt, then add nut butter or melted coconut oil and stir until clumpy.
  4. Assemble by spreading the apples in the baking dish and sprinkling the topping over them.
  5. Bake for about 30 to 40 minutes until the apples are soft and the topping is golden.
  6. Cool for 10 to 15 minutes before serving.

Notes

For best results, let the crisp sit after baking to thicken, and serve with Greek yogurt for an extra protein boost.
