Description

Delightful Halloween candy apples coated in glossy caramel or rich chocolate, perfect for spooky celebrations.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 medium-sized crisp apples (preferably Granny Smith or Fuji)
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon food coloring (orange, purple, or black)
  • Optional toppings: chopped nuts, sprinkles, or crushed candies
  • Wooden sticks or skewers for apple handles

Instructions

  1. Start by preparing your workspace. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and insert wooden sticks into the tops of each apple.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, and water. Bring to medium heat and stir constantly until the sugar dissolves. Let it boil until it reaches the hard crack stage (about 300°F).
  3. Once your candy mixture hits the target temperature, carefully remove it from heat and stir in the salt, vanilla extract, and food coloring.
  4. Now, dip each apple into the hot candy mixture, making sure it’s completely coated.
  5. Place the coated apples on the lined baking sheet and sprinkle any toppings while the candy is still hot.
  6. Allow the apples to cool at room temperature for about 30 minutes until the candy hardens.

Notes

Can be stored at room temperature for up to 3 days, in the refrigerator for about a week, or in the freezer for about a month. Avoid reheating.
