A festive and easy turkey breast recipe infused with cranberry and orange, perfect for holiday gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 turkey breast, about 3 to 5 pounds, boneless or bone in
- Salt and black pepper
- Garlic powder or 2 to 3 fresh garlic cloves, minced
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme or rosemary, or a mix
- 2 tablespoons olive oil or melted butter
- 1 cup cranberry sauce, whole berry or jellied
- 1 cup fresh cranberries or frozen, optional
- 1 large orange, zest and juice
- 2 to 3 tablespoons honey or maple syrup
- 1 cup chicken broth or turkey broth
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons cold water, optional for thickening
Instructions
- Heat the oven to 350 F.
- Season the turkey breast with salt, pepper, garlic, and thyme or rosemary, then rub with olive oil or melted butter.
- Mix the sauce by stirring together cranberry sauce, orange zest, orange juice, honey, and broth.
- Roast the turkey in a baking dish, pouring half the sauce around it, and cover loosely with foil.
- Baste the turkey after 45 minutes with pan sauce, remove the foil, and continue roasting until fully cooked (1 hour 15 minutes to 1 hour 45 minutes).
- Check the turkey with a thermometer to ensure it reaches 165 F.
- Rest the turkey for 10 to 15 minutes before slicing.
- Thicken the sauce by simmering pan juices and stirring in the cornstarch slurry if desired.
Notes
Use a thermometer to avoid overcooking and ensure a tender turkey breast. Let it rest for juicy slices.
