Perfectly grilled ribs, seasoned with a delicious spice mix and slathered in barbecue sauce, guaranteed to impress at your summer barbecue.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 racks of beef ribs (about 3 to 4 pounds)
- 1 cup of brown sugar
- 1/4 cup of smoked paprika
- 1 tablespoon of garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon of onion powder
- 1 tablespoon of black pepper
- 1 tablespoon of salt
- 1 tablespoon of chili powder
- 1 tablespoon of cumin
- 1 teaspoon of cayenne pepper (optional for heat)
- 1 cup of barbecue sauce (store-bought or homemade)
- Apple cider vinegar or sparkling grape juice (for moisture)
Instructions
- Start by preparing the ribs. Remove the silver skin from the back of the ribs.
- Mix together the brown sugar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, salt, chili powder, cumin, and cayenne pepper.
- Generously coat both sides of the ribs with the spice mix.
- Wrap the ribs in plastic wrap and refrigerate them for at least an hour, or overnight for the best results.
- Preheat your grill to a low temperature, around 225°F to 250°F.
- Place the ribs bone-side down on the grill, away from direct heat.
- Close the lid and let the ribs cook undisturbed for 2 to 3 hours.
- After a couple of hours, brush a generous layer of barbecue sauce onto the ribs.
- For the last 15 minutes of grilling, you can increase the heat slightly to caramelize the sauce.
- Once the internal temperature reaches about 190°F to 205°F, remove the ribs from the grill and let them rest for about 15 minutes.
Notes
Consider adding honey or maple syrup for a sweet twist, and feel free to adjust the cayenne pepper for spice preferences.
