Description

A delightful recipe that combines tender chicken with the sweet and tangy essence of apple cider, perfect for any gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup apple cider (or sparkling grape juice)
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme (or fresh if available)
  • 1 teaspoon dried rosemary
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Sliced apples (for garnish, optional)
  • Fresh herbs like parsley or chives (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

  1. Start by heating the olive oil or butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Season the chicken with salt, pepper, thyme, and rosemary.
  2. Add the chicken breasts to the skillet. Sear each side for about 5-7 minutes until golden brown.
  3. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set it aside. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Pour in apple cider and apple cider vinegar. Scrape any browned bits from the bottom of the pan.
  5. Add the maple syrup if you’re using it and bring the mixture to a simmer. Let it reduce for about 5 minutes.
  6. Return the chicken to the pan, spoon some sauce over each piece, cover, and reduce the heat. Cook for an additional 10-15 minutes.
  7. Optional: Toss in sliced apples in the last few minutes of cooking.
  8. Finally, serve your Apple Cider Chicken, garnished with fresh herbs and apple slices if desired.

Notes

For healthier alternatives, use skinless chicken thighs or firm tofu instead of chicken. This dish is naturally gluten-free.
